Training for people applying experimental procedures on carnivores and pigs

• Mastering the fundamentals of animal ethics and the responsibilities of a procedure applicator
• To know the basics of the biology of carnivores and pigs and the specificities of their use
• Understand the operating principles and health management of a pet store housing these species
• Master the basic gestures for their maintenance, handling, restraint and simple procedures

Regulation, ethics, 3Rs, ethics committees, SBEA, alternative methods, limit points, euthanasia, criteria for choosing a model

• Specialist module for carnivores and pigs (32.5 hrs)

Specific biology of carnivores and pigs (ethology, anatomy, physiology), organisation and equipment of animal houses, maintenance and enrichment techniques, observation of animals, health monitoring, pathologies, replacement, anaesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia, interest in models, visit to a site and observation of minimally invasive procedures.
