Learning objectives

  • Master the fundamentals of animal ethics and the responsibilities of an animal carer
  • Understand the basic biology of aquatic species and the specific uses to which they are put
  • Understand the operating principles of a pet store housing these species
  • Master the basic gestures for their maintenance and handling

Regulation, ethics, 3Rs, ethics committees, SBEA, euthanasia

  • Specialised module on aquatic species (27.5 hrs)

Specific biology of aquatic species (ethology, anatomy, physiology), organisation and equipment of animal facilities, water quality, maintenance and enrichment techniques, observation of animals, pathologies, euthanasia, site visit and observation of minimally invasive procedures.
